Knitting and Crocheting

Mom decided to learn to knit....you know, designer type stuff for herself with beads and feathers. One of our kind neighbours showed her how to cast on stitches (that was a bit of laugh, Mom seems to be challenged in some areas) and how to knit and purl. Mom practiced all day and thought she was getting good. Then another neighbour dropped in today and saw Mom's work....she said 'oh you knit' ....Mom tried to be all modest and said she was just learning. The neighbour Lady asked if Mom would knit for charity...she said that there was terrible poverty on the other side of the border...children in rags with no warm scarves or hats for the winter time. She also said that some babies go home from the hospital without any clothes at all on their little bodies. Mom told the Lady that she already knew how to crochet ...... we bought yarn and hooks.

Knitting will have to wait.

  1. Well done mom, now she can return to Saturna and encourage her friends and neighbours to knit for babies in Mexico. I am a happy Knitwit, I make baby hats to go to Ghana and to Malawi scarves and hats to go to street kids where ever they are and socks for my friends. Its fun Robbie ,you ask Tansy, she says it keeps me calm and out of mischief. What does she mean>? I'm always calm and lately I haven't found any mischief worth making an effort for. The best fun is making dolls to serve first, as packing for medications etc. being sent to Africa, and elsewhere and then they are given to children attending clinics. I hope mom enjoys herself, Think of something you and Lacey can do to entertain her while she crochets.
